“Memory, I realize, can be an unreliable thing; often it is heavily colored by the circumstances in which one remembers, and no doubt this applies to certain of the recollections I have gathered here.” – Kazuo Ishiguro, A Pale View of Hills
Collective memory is an odd thing: what we consider shared experiences are hardly ever truly shared at all. Fraught with disconnections and distortions, they are felt and interpreted individually – subjectively – as our personal journeys impact the moments we remember and the recollections we make.
Following the release of their Inhabit EP in March 2014, Pleasantry is proud to launch their much anticipated debut album ‘Synapses’ out on KittyWu Records.
The album was recorded, mixed and produced by renowned Singapore producer Leonard Soosay at Snakeweed Studios and mastered by Rick Fisher and Rachel Field at RFI Mastering in Seattle.
Synapses is a ten-track album that features material gathered from a variety of influences. Recommended tracks include the lively and harmony-drven False Realities, the melodic slow burner Swan Song and intricately elegant Farewell Waltz.
Synapses also features additional musical contributions by Singapore’s finest musicians such as Weish (.gif and sub:shaman), Josh Wei and Firdauz Asyraft (ANECHOIS).
