MY DISCO balance industrial noise and tribal, percussive minimalism so perfectly that it blurs the lines between avant-rock and psychedelic trance to the point where the listener doesn’t know whether they should be stroking their chins or throwing their hands in the air like they just don’t care.

…not so much post-punk as post-rock (with a krautrock bent).

KittyWu is pleased to announce that Melbourne-based minimal post-punk band MY DISCO will be returning to Singapore for a show at HOME CLUB on Saurday 28th April 2012. MY DISCO last performed in Singapore at *SCAPE in January last year – together with instrumental post-rockers I Am David Sparkle and grindcore oufit Wormrot. This year, young instrumental upstarts, ANECHOIS – fresh from their successful selection at the Baybeats 2012 auditions – will be supporting MY DISCO for this one-night only show.

About MY DISCO
Founded in 2003, Melbourne, Australia’s My Disco have spent nearly a decade defining and refining their sound in a way that defies rock music’s most enduring tropes. Each new album finds them subtracting a little more, applying minimalist instincts to relentless, stripped-bare post-punk grooves. The result is a hypnotic, almost subconscious body music that lives and breathes with the persistent repetition of a heartbeat and the menacing precision of a sniper.
My Disco have been notable for their use of complex time signatures. ‘Agitated’ and ‘angular’ are two words often used to describe their guitars, with a minimalist feel present within all instrumentation.
The release of their debut album Cancer in 2006 marked a new level of emphasis on minimalism.
Live performances before the release of Paradise showcased another refinement of their minimalist sound, with several songs consisting of just one note, repetitive single-sentence vocals and long-sustained guitar chords. Drumlines, although minimal, still offer dance-like, albeit disjointed, beats.

About ANECHOIS
ANECHOIS is a post-progressive rock band from Singapore, consisting of guitarists Zeek and Justin, bassist Dale, drummer Fadlee and keyboardist Asyraft, who bonded through their desire to craft new music that they hear in their heads. Inspired by the simple things in life, the band blends progressive, post-rock, math-rock, and a wide range of other influences into bite-sized packages that you can alternately chill out or rock out to.
Since finalising the lineup in mid 2011, the band has played at popular gig series Identite (Home Club) and Confessions (*Scape), as well as The Tribal Gathering of Jaw Benders at The Substation.
ANECHOIS are currently working on a debut EP, to be released early 2012.
